First, you have to pace yourself, which means that you have to understand how to set an example. They need to know that if someone, whether it’s a vendor, customer or someone that you’re working with just that day, isn’t treating them the right way, you’re going to make sure they’re protected. Your staff needs to know that you’re not going to let them be treated unfairly. That is an important role leaders need to play.
