…Conflict. Conflict is such an important factor of storytelling, it drives the narrative forward by creating tension and stakes. It also forces characters to make choices, revealing their true nature and propelling their growth. Without conflict, there’s no struggle, no change, and ultimately, no compelling story to engage the reader. It provides the necessary friction for a story to have meaning and potential and also prompts the reader to take a look within themselves and challenge their own morals.
