…My leading cause is that I want to bring people together with my music and make it more accessible to less privileged people because I think music is a universal language. Music is a universal language that brings many emotional colors and sounds; it’s a transferrable language. So when the piano plays more notes and has a lot of range, it mirrors our way of feeling the world, our interpretation of everything.
I had the distinct pleasure to talk to Rachel Starritt. Rachel was born in Bridgend, South Wales in 1994. She was born blind and also had Asperger’s. Rachel has received formal piano training since 2006 with Alison Bowring at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD). She continues to demonstrate extraordinary musicianship and piano improvisation skills. Currently, Rachel is a postgraduate student, having achieved a 1st Class Honours Degree in Piano Performance in 2018.
